The RCI Cell should be replaced when UV Light Bulb is burned, or every two years whichever comes first. Size: 9 inches (23 centimeters).

I purchased this unit to replace a 4 year old cell on an Activetec Air Scrubber Plus Model A1013A (FYI: the owners manual says to replace cell (which comes with UV bulb) every 2-3 yrs, or, if the blue light on the air scrubber doesn't light when the furnace is on, whichever comes sooner)). I looked at a lot of sites. And, this is the only site I found with the cell with ozone. My Air Scrubber owners manual claims the "Standard" cell which came with the unit was with ozone, Item # US70678. Ozone output is .02ppm max. The manual also says you can use an ozone-free cell, Item # US71088.
Trying to decide which cell to use is the most difficult aspect of the replacement process (with or without ozone). Most folks buy the without ozone cell, probably because it is less expensive by about $30. Or, because the replacement "with ozone" unit is far far less available. Or, maybe even because when researching Home and Office Air Purifiers with Ozone you'll read that purifiers with ozone in higher concentrations shouldn't be used while humans are present. But, my Air Scrubber Plus owners manual says that its .02ppm max ozone is far below the EPA maximum recommended ozone, and if you want odor reduction, get the cell with ozone. My kid has a cat and a dog, so, there ya go.
You will have to decide which replacement cell you want to go with. But, I will say, I've been using the ozone cell from this website for several weeks now and I have never detected any foreign odors in the house. One review I came across on another site stated that there was a faint chlorine odor while their furnace was operating. Like I said, I have not detected ANY ozone related odors, smells or other adverse symptoms with this unit.
The install is straight forward. It required pulling the power cable, removing 4 nuts on the Air Scrubber, removing the Air Scrubber from the furnace duct, and 2 screws holding the RCI cell to the back of the Air Scrubber. Swap the new cell for the old, and replace in the reverse order.
